No Photo Op for Bin Laden

It was here, in Afghanistan, where Osama bin Laden established a safe-haven for his terrorist organization. Last year it was Obama who got Bin Laden. President Obama remarked that in 2011 we removed 10,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan. Another 23,000 will leave by the end of the summer. God bless the U.S. Navy Seals and all our military.

President did a good thing by going into the war zone, showing the world that U.S. power is firmly intact. He showed that America will not tolerate terrorist attacks and brings attention to the death of bin Laden.

Crazy conspiracy theories have been springing up all over the internet since President Obama announced that bin Laden was killed in the midnight raid. Questions flying everywhere – show the pictures of the dead body or don’t show the pictures. President Obama decided as Commander-in-Chief not to show the pictures. Interesting many newscasters are referring to the President of the United States as Mr. Obama.

Reason to show the pictures – so the citizen on the street will believe Osama bin Laden is dead. Not a good enough reason. Damn if you do - damn if you don’t. There’s going to be conspiracy theorists that are going to believe the pictures are doctored. There’ll be stories the whole event was shot on a movie sound stage, like the moon landing.

Update: May 6, 2011 - Al-Qaida on Friday confirmed the killing of Osama bin Laden and warned of retaliation.

Reasons not to release the death pictures of Osama bin Laden, if he’s alive prove it. Let his followers, terrorists, and conspiracy theorists prove he’s alive. Many days have passed since President Obama announced Navy Seals killed bin Laden, and still he has not appeared for an interview on Fox news, HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, or radio host Alex Jones. Well Jones really doesn’t count. He’s good friends with Charlie Sheen, which is not the greatest character reference.

Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a son of Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden, a wealthy businessman with close ties to the Saudi royal family. Bin Laden and his family spent many years in America. This gave them the advantage over the average American of knowing about Americans then Americans know about the bin Ladens. Several of bin Laden's children left the US for Iran following the September 11 attacks. Osama bin Laden’s body and picture would become the martyr proof the crazies need. We really don’t want fanatics parading coffins and death photos in the streets, advancing retaliation against the Americans. One of the most recognized militant organizations is Al-Qaeda. It was founded by Osama Bin Laden for the single goal of ending American military presence in the Middle East and probably the world. Islamic terrorism has been around since the 1970’s. Islamic terrorism is a term for acts of terrorism committed by extremists, who call themselves Muslims, for the resolve of achieving fluctuating political and/or religious ends.

Americans are at higher risk to be the subject of violence. American Victims of Mideast Terrorist Attacks is a list of attacks on Americans since the 1970’s. Eliminating the September 11 attacks, roughly 700 Americans have been killed and 1,600 wounded in terrorist attacks since 1970. Putting out death photos of Osama bin Laden would encourage a killing frenzy of Americans. All Americans overseas can’t pack up and return to the safety of America. Besides military personnel, there are civilian government employees, and contractors. American airline personnel fly in and out of danger zones often.

October, 29, 2010: two separate parcels are found on two different cargo planes. Each package contained a bomb consisting of 11-14 oz. of plastic explosives and a detonating mechanism. Saudi Arabia's security chief is credited with giving US the information. The packages were traveling from Yemen to the United States. One bomb was discovered at stop-over in England and one in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. So giving terrorists a tangible relic of bin Laden would increase the desire to kill Americans. Photos do not need to be released. If you don’t believe the man is dead that’s your problem – deal with it.

It’s 2011 but women are still not given respect for being creditable.  Christiane Amanpour is anchor of ABC News's This Week and formerly chief international correspondent at CNN, where she worked for 27 years.  She reported on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, Osama bin Laden was hiding in plain sight in a million-dollar compound! The date was October 2008. She appeared with Gary Shandling and Alec Baldwin, and the three men talked her down.  If she had knowledge of bin Laden’s whereabouts, it came from somewhere in the Bush Administration.  So who knew what when and why wasn’t it acted upon?  Amanpour is heard on video saying, "It's not a cave. It's a villa."

Osama bin Laden was killed in a complex in the town of Abbottabad.  It was built in 2005, conceivably as a hiding place for bin Laden. It has 12-foot walls, and is much grander than other homes in the town.  So Christiane Amanpour was right – it was a villa, not a cave. Osama bin Laden sleeps with the fishes.
